Outline:

In this interactive workshop, we’ll experience a simple but multi-step practical classroom activity that helps learners to imitate, manipulate, analyse, articulate and neutralise spoken English to acquire fluency by going through Critical and Creative thinking skills.
Participants will explore a template to utilise video to help learners understand and incorporate new language chunks in their spoken English.

1. Demonstrate the benefit of utilising the psychomotor domain (skills based domain, consisting of six levels) of Bloom’s Taxonomy framework to upgrade the learners’ speaking skills
2. Highlight the central role of cognitive and affective engagement to foster the learners’ ability to imitate, manipulate, analyse, articulate and improve their fluency.
4 Provide a template and strategies for a six-step- activity designed to develop learners’ ability to notice, remember, access and fluently retrieve words and language chunks.
Participant outcomes:
1 Participants will be able to use language chunks from film clips to help learners to get better at understanding naturally paced connected speech
2 Participants will be able to use language chunks from film clips to help learners become more fluent in their speaking
3 Participants will experience and learn how to set up a multi-step activity designed to develop learners’ ability to notice, remember, access and retrieve language chunks.
